Veronica Espinosa
Company Member

Company Member, Veronica Espinosa, brings a variety of organizational skills and performance experience to the Darknight family. Her theater roots come from Chicago’s Southside suburb, Oak Lawn and its local high school. She earned supporting roles in “Hello Dolly”, “King & I”, “Anything Goes”, “Dark of the Moon”, as well as ensemble parts in “The Wiz”, “Godspell” and “Guys & Dolls”. An active Speech Club member throughout, Veronica finally won herself a spot in the state competition, winning the state final round in Oratorical Declamation (’99).

Veronica received a full speech scholarship to Eastern Illinois University, where she focused year round on qualifying for two national competitions, while traveling around the Midwest. She attended these competitions for 4 years, competing in a total of 7 different events. She made it to national quarter-final rounds sophomore year in Prose Reading and Duo Interpretation. “The Jack Tales” is Veronica’s only stage performance at EIU, which opened her up to the idea of recreation for children. Several summers were spent in Maine at Hidden Valley Camp, where she instructed children’s improv and theater classes, and other arts. She received her degree in 2004, a B.S. in Recreation Administration.

Veronica’s history with Darknight began with a performance in “The Answering Machine”, at Darknight’s 1st annual one-day playwriting festival. The following year, she played Constance in the production of Jane Bagnall’s, “Natural Order”.

Currently, Veronica is experiencing the process of theater management and production with this exciting company. She is very grateful for all the support, dedication and laughter the past few years with Darknight! She looks forward to many more tamales and great times in Michigan!
