Jane Bagnall
Costume Designer, Playwright, Props Artisan

Jane began her career with a degree in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. After working for a clothing manufacturer in New York and then several years of running her own custom clothing design business in Michigan, the love of theater called her back. Jane returned to school to complete a BA in theater from Hope College in Holland, Michigan and continued on for an MFA in Costume Design from Ohio University.

Since moving to the Chicago area in 1998, Jane has designed for Lifeline Theater, Theater at the Center (Munster, IN), Northern Illinois University, College of DuPage, Moraine Valley Community College and Darknight Theatrical Productions. Some of her more memorable shows are – My Father’s Dragon and Cooking With Lard (Lifeline Theater), Tommy, Midsummer Night Dream and Courage of Mandy Kate Brown (Moraine Valley Comm. College), Me and My Girl and State Fair (Theater at the Center), and Starting Monday (Darknight Theatrical Productions).

Jane has also worked with Steppenwolf Theater (design assistant and cutter/draper), Chicago Shakespeare Theatre (stitcher), Santa Fe Opera (stitcher/first hand), Kentucky Shakespeare Theater (Costume shop manager and cutter/draper) and Hope Summer Repertory Theater (designer, stitcher, cutter/draper).

For the past 6 years, Jane has been a faculty member in the Department of Performing Arts at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also serves as their Resident Costume Designer and Costume Shop Manager.
